Haley & Jared’s Sunny & Rustic Wedding at Garage B

Haley and Jared are residents of Washington, D.C. with deep roots in Boston’s hospitality industry, so they were determined to book a wedding venue that made customization easy and affordable. Inevitably, their venue search quickly led to the blank-slate Garage B! While their wedding design concept of a rustic-style celebration in the city may surprise some, it only took a few cozy rentals and seasonal florals to adapt this modern-industrial venue to their vision.

During their wedding planning, Haley and Jared added on The Annex, our charming microevent space located in the upper Charles River Speedway, to their venue booking as a getting-ready location for the bridal party. From here, the couple’s photographer was also able to conveniently capture the bride’s first looks with her father and her groom against the pretty backdrop of the historical architecture and the blooming lawn. Afterward, the couple continued to take formal photos along Soldiers Field Road, inside Garage B, and throughout the greater Speedway.

When it came to the big day, Haley and Jared’s guests were welcomed to the venue with delicious espresso martinis and personalized fans to beat the late-summer heat. The wedding ceremony setup inside Garage B was sunny and verdant: Boston ferns hung from the ceiling, topiaries lined the aisle, and an arch arranged with lush greenery and bunches of golden sunflowers brightened up the minimalist, warehouse-style event space. The bank of glass overhead doors were opened for the procession from outside, and the bride and groom exchanged vows and a sweeping, romantic kiss upon a homey boho rug in front of rows of loved ones seated in wooden Chiavari chairs.

Haley and Jared cleverly opted to enclose Garage B’s adjacent outdoor patio with bamboo fencing that suited the botanical aesthetic of their wedding and provided privacy for cocktail hour. The landscaped area was arranged with barrel high-tops and round banquet tables dressed with canvas linens, both adorned with small meadow-style flower arrangements in bud vases. An acoustic guitarist played sweet, relaxing tunes while guests enjoyed hot slices from Pizza Project’s wood-fired oven and a special selection of alcoholic beverages curated by the groom’s father, who serves as the Director of Fine Wines at Ruby Wines, Inc., a repeat client of Garage B. During this time, the interior of Garage B was “flipped” for the reception.

Garage B’s floor-to-ceiling doors remained open throughout the reception of this indoor-outdoor wedding, which allowed for a glowing sunset to fill the large room during heartfelt toasts and the couple’s loving first dance. This also supported organic guest flow between preferred caterer Max Ultimate Food’s laid-back “country fair” buffet dinner, the DJ’s energetic dance party, and the refreshing nighttime air on the patio.

Rustic weddings continue to be extremely popular in New England, and a few simple touches  — like a warm, earthy color palette and natural, casual materials — can transform our Boston venue into a modern barn-style wedding. Whatever style you imagine for your nuptials, consider an alternative wedding venue like Garage B, and learn more about the creative opportunities possible for your big day!
