3 Creative Ways to Flip Your Wedding Venue Space @ Garage B

From the ceremony to the reception — there are a lot of moving pieces that go into planning your wedding day. If you are considering hosting both your ceremony and reception in the same wedding venue location, there are a few creative approaches you can use to take full advantage of a blank space venue.

Before you consider booking two separate locations, take a look at a few real life examples of couples who hosted their ceremony AND reception at Garage B.

1. Moving the Party from Outside to Inside

The New England fall weather was showing off for Ellyn and Chuck’s October nuptials. This couple decided to use both the indoor and outdoor space at Garage B for their wedding. The centerpiece of their ceremony, which was held outdoors, was a stunning arch against the garage doors. The couple opted to use white partitions to line the glass doors, so guests wouldn’t see the catering team in action inside the venue, getting last minute items set up for the reception.

After they said “I do,” guests headed inside and took a seat at the reception that was staged and ready to welcome the newlyweds. minimal movement for guests creates more time to enjoy the event, the perfect atmosphere for guests to welcome the bride and groom back to the party.

2. Grand Entrance: Indoor Ceremony, Cocktail Reception Outdoors

Carrie and Ricky’s wedding day began with a floral backdrop and U-shaped seating arrangement for their indoor ceremony inside Garage B. After their vows, Carrie and Ricky went off to snap a few photos at the Charles River Speedway. Their catering team then lifted all the garage doors to help move their wedding guests outside for the cocktail hour, and the inside of this wedding venue space was transformed for the reception. The team cleared the chairs from the ceremony and moved tables into place for dinner. Once the space was ready, the garage doors were raised again to welcome guests back inside to get ready for the bride and groom to return to the party.

The couple left the doors open and continued an indoor and outdoor reception throughout the night — concluding their big day with a New Orleans style parade out of the Speedway and into the night.

3. Prepare for the Flip

Trihn and Michael’s boho minimalist style wedding used rented pipes and drapes to partition the venue off for their ceremony inside Garage B. This allowed a beautiful and emotional entrance for the bride with her parents, when the drapes parted for her to walk down the aisle.

After the ceremony, guests were invited outside for the cocktail hour with food stations and a cartoon character table. While the guests were outside the catering team moved the drapes back to the far wall of the venue and swapped pre-set up tables into place for the reception. The drapes allowed the team to have the floral arrangements, decorations, plates, glassware and silverware already staged and ready to move as soon as it was time to flip and set the room for the reception.
