Draping Brings out the Beauty of Garage B

We love that so many wedding couples, happy families, and local businesses that host their events at Garage B share our enthusiasm for lively and funky design. Still, our venue’s modern-industrial character also lends itself to a contemporary elegance that can suit romantic ceremonies, heartfelt celebrations, and elevated corporate events. As a revitalized garage from the 1940s, the building’s stone walls, steel beams, and polished concrete flooring are a refined yet stylish setting for more sophisticated affairs. A beautiful way to bring out this elegance at Garage B is through draping installations.

A wedding procession aisle lined by vases of pampas grass and black folding chairs and strewn with white rose petals with a white drape in the background.

Working with your event planner and rental company will help you select the appropriate fabrics and installation types to bring your draping vision for Garage B to life, whether it be sweet, cozy intimacy or sumptuous, Hollywood-inspired luxury. For example, crisp white chiffon — perhaps interwoven with florals or greenery — can soften the garage aesthetic and bring a light and airy balance to your event. It’s especially easy to imagine a picturesque wedding once you consider the abundance of natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows playing off the billowing fabric.

While drapes are fitting for a minimalist or classic look in neutral tones, their elegance can be festive as well. Pops of drapery in a trending color — such as a hue of green, blue, or red — can make a statement and/or accent your event’s decor. Drapes in bright pinks and oranges both indoors and outdoors at Garage B made for this vibrant sangeet, a pre-wedding party of Indian custom. The vivid colors and lush textures in this design were further emphasized by the addition of uplighting, another feature to discuss with your planning team to customize our venue.

A pipe-and-drape installation can be functional, too. It may act as a welcoming entrance into Garage B or make for a visually-pleasing partition in the venue’s open floor plan, establishing distinct areas for different event activities throughout the room. This utilization can also create dramatic flair, as a wall-to-wall drape can be parted to allow for a wedding procession or opened to expand the space for cocktails and dinner.

Three chairs set on a stage for a corporate event panel in front of a yellow-draped wall decorated with hanging flowers and beneath matching cascading drapes hung from the ceiling. Surrounding them are two video monitors, rows of lucite seating, and high-top cocktail tables.

Finally, for those who love to celebrate in impressive fashion, draping can also fully transform Garage B, as it did at “Babes in Business”. For this panel event honoring powerhouse corporate women within the community, the rafters and walls of the venue were cascaded with bold, yellow drapes and complementary uplighting to create an attractive and dynamic ambience that reflected the vibrant and spirited energy of the evening.

The beauty of Garage B is both in its historical architectural interest and the simplicity of its blank-slate nature, ready for your distinguished style. If you are looking to host an elegant event in a striking venue, contact our team today.
