Reintroducing The Annex: Event Space at the Speedway

The Annex at the Charles River Speedway has had a glow up over the summer and the intimate event space is ready to host your next event.

Things are looking very cozy in the Annex with newly added seating and lounge furniture awaiting you and your guests. This private event and workshop space is a cottage core-dream, meets 19th-century hideaway in the heart of Brighton.

The Annex at the Charles River Speedway has cozy event space

The space is light and airy with enough room to accommodate up to 50 guests standing or a seated event for groups. Boasting wooden floors, cottage-style windows, and a rounded turret corner — this venue now had a variety of furniture to be used for your mirco-event needs. The open room has two small couches, two-top tables, and two larger tables with seating around the room for 25-30 guests. If the furniture just doesn’t work with your vision, you can also bring in outside rentals to make the space your own.

With a little imagination, this compact space can be transformed for a small family gathering or a corporate educational session. Need some inspiration? Here are a few ways the space has been used recently.

The Annex at the Speedway is the perfect event space for comedy or a baby shower

Devine Comedy Shows hosts monthly Comedy Nights in the Annex. The Somerville duo typically rearranges the existing furniture to host 30-50 guests seated for the showcase and they partner with Notch Brewing to allow guests to grab a beer before getting their laughs in,

Recently, we also saw a family host a baby shower at the Annex. After working with our events team, they worked with AA Rentals for tables, chairs and linens to make their afternoon shower everything they dreamed of. In addition, the group used the small stage area outside for lawn games and took advantage of the indoor and outdoor offering.

When there aren’t private events happening in the Annex, it was designed with our community in mind. The space is open during weekdays to be explored.

  • Grab a coffee or tea from Rite and have a seat to work from Annex from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. during the week.
  • Attend various workshops hosted by businesses and friends of The Speedway.
  • Host your own private event with brand new furnishings.
